Jim Chatto is one of the most respected names in Australian Wine, which his track record of success more than justifies. The 2019 Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the Year award being just one of many in his trophy cabinet.
He is carving out some of the most sought after Pinot Noir in the country under his eponymous label ‘Chatto’. Not only a esteemed winemaker, but Jim is also a very immensely respected wine show judge. His leadership has spanned Australia wide, and he was Chairman of Judges for the prestigious National Wine Show of Australia from 2014 to 2016.
For many years Jim's obsession with Pinot Noir has had him searching for that perfect site, and in 2007 he and his wife Daisy started planting out a multi-clonal Pinot Noir vineyard in the Huon Valley of Tasmania. Which later became ‘The Isle Vineyard’ and is released under their single vineyard range.
In 2020 they expanded that range from their own sites in the Huon and took the fruit from Bird (Pipers Brook), Marion's (Tamar Valley), Glengarry (Tamar Valley), and Seven Inch (Huon), releasing six single-vineyard Pinots as well as Lutruwita (Regional blend)
Lovers of Pinot Noir look no further, as these wines should be on everyone's list of “Must Buy”!

2021 Chatto 'Lutruwita' Pinot Noir - $50

A complex blend of no less than five clones (114, 115, MV6, D5V12, G5V15) and four vineyard sites in the north, south and east of Tasmania.

The name Lutruwita is the Palawa Kani name for our island state.

"Our 2021 Lutruwita blend comes from one vineyard on the West Tamar (Glengarry), one from Pipers River (Bird), one from the Coal River (Brinktop), and one from the East Coast (Maclean Bay). A celebration of what is so good about Tasmanian Pinot: Bright red & black fruits, all the florals, intensity yet elegance, and great length and purity." - Jim Chatto

2021 Chatto 'Bird' Pinot Noir - $78

Planted by Tasmanian pioneer Dr Andrew Pirie in 1998, Bird vineyard is in the Pipers River region, northeast of Tasmania.

"Thanks to the team's generosity at Pipers Brook, we are lucky to get a lovely parcel of clone 114 Pinot from the Bird Vineyard. Red fruit with spicey aromatics. Bird is the most elegant and ethereal of our lineup — the ‘Gateway Pinot’ as we fondly call it." - Jim Chatto

2021 Chatto 'Seven Inch' Pinot Noir - $78

A combination of four clones (115, G5V15, D5V12, 8104).

"Planted in 2007 and located about 750m (as the crow flies) from our own Isle Vineyard. Meticulously and lovingly grown our neighbour by Max Kitchell, Seven Inch has been part of the Chatto stable since 2014. We bottled the first stand-alone wine from this excellent site in 2018." Jim Chatto
